Membership - FAQCFPC membership is available to all licensed medical practitioners in good standing.
The College is a non-profit voluntary organization of family physicians that makes continuing medical education (CME) mandatory for its members. The CFPC is recognized worldwide. Members attend CME training workshops and maintain high standards of care in general practice across Canada.
Maintenance of membership requires participation in continuing medical education (MAINPRO®) and full payment of the membership fee. Joining the CFPC automatically includes both National and Provincial chapter membership.
Membership has steadily increased since the founding of the College in 1954. This success can be attributed to a dedicated, active, and involved membership. At present, approximately 60% of full time family physicians in active practice in Canada are members of the College.
What Does the College Do?The College accredits university residency programs in Family Medicine across Canada and provides the national certification exams in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
