About Us - Our Mission
The Nova Scotia College of Family Physicians (NSCFP) is a Chapter of The College of Family Physicians of Canada, a national voluntary organization of family physicians that represents family physicians/general practitioners in the discipline of Family Medicine.
The NSCFP represents over 775 family physicians in Nova Scotia.
Our Mission is to support the highest quality of health care in Nova Scotia by:
- Providing and accrediting continuing professional development programs and promoting life long learning for family physicians
- Encouraging family physicians to maintain professional competence through certification in Family Medicine
- Advocating for the central role of the family physician in primary care
- Promoting and supporting healthy family physicians Advancing research in Family Medicine
- Fostering relationships with medical students and residents to promote Family Medicine as a satisfying, fulfilling and rewarding career
- Recognizing leadership and excellence in Family Medicine
Our Vision is to promote excellence in Family Medicine and the highest quality of health care for the people of Nova Scotia through leadership and support for family physicians of Nova Scotia.
As the voice of Family Medicine in Canada, The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) will:
- Champion quality health care for all people in Canada
- Support its members in providing quality patient care through education, research and the promotion of best practices
- Ensure that the role of the family physician is well understood and widely valued
